Improve your life

Sometimes you sit and feel that you're not quite content with your life. You don't know exactly what's wrong, it's just a feeling that something is missing... I dare say that it happens to the majority of people due to the widespread consumerism and excessive desire to purchase & own things.

Human beings have a strong need to prove to others that they are happy, have money, & power. The most popular way to do that is by buying more & more things or going out and drinking too much. Sadly, it doesn't work out in the long run. Although shopping and partying may somehow make us feel excitement & comfort, we won't achieve inner peace, true happiness, & long-lasting fulfillment.

If you are looking for different ways to be happy with your own life, and stop feeling anxious about missing something on your way this post is perfect for you!

I can share how I found myself content with my life, how I started appreciating the little things & moments, & how I managed to reduce stress. I truly hope they will be helpful for you, some of them at least.

1. Meditation & yoga

Practicing meditation & doing yoga is what really helped me with having more energy, and staying calm & positive throughout the day. I'm not really a sports person. I don't mind swimming occasionally, doing pilates, or stretching but the gym is definitely not my thing. Not only is yoga very pleasant, relaxing, and not cardio-ish at all (which is perfect for me), but also it improves the strength of your muscles, your balance, sense of calmness, and focus. Combined with meditation {read more about it}, it gives a powerful effect resulting in an increase in energy, peacefulness, kindness, & productiveness. From my experience, it is completely life-changing. You will for sure thank yourself for trying.

2. Physical activity

Like I said before, I'm not into sports. I genuinely detest it. However, physical activity is crucial in your life, in your everyday. It can be the amount of walking during the day or going up the stairs rather than taking the lift. It's about your hot girl walks, swimming in the sea with friends, riding a bike to get somewhere, instead of using your car. Take a look at your typical day and ask yourself: "Is my day active, full of  (even the most regular) movement? Or is it spent laying on my bed, sitting at the desk, and driving the car?"

3. Food

You know the drill, I'm not going to say eat 5 veggies a day and drink water for the 9236426th time (even though IT IS TRUE & good for you). Here are some helpful swaps that can make a huge difference in your well-being and general health.

  • matcha & green tea instead of coffee (or at least instead of one cup of coffee a day)
  • good fats, omega 3- the best shit ever for your gut health, which means your brain health, skin condition, and overall better mood. Can be found in chia seeds, cashew nuts, almonds, flax, and pumpkin seeds.
  • honey, dates, and agave instead of sugar (& one more tip, if you do eat sugar, an easy and tasty way to lower the levels of sugar is to eat cinnamon)
  • eat breakfast not an hour after you wake up
  • eat when you are hungry ( if scared of gaining weight, eat less then)
  • take good quality probiotics

4. Sunlight= vitamin D= happiness

(not going to say anything more)

5. Limit the screen time

Read a book instead, look through the window instead, meditate instead, and listen to music/podcasts instead. There are PLENTY of things that are so much better than using social media. Also, don't use your phone for at least an hour before going to sleep and after waking up.

6. Stop comparing yourself to others, develop yourself

You are neither worse nor better than anyone else. Focus on yourself, on your growth., rather than point out others' mistakes and faults. It won't make you better in any way. It won't help you become a better you. Find a topic that interests you, and what you would like to improve or learn. Read more books or articles. Listen to podcasts and watch videos filled with knowledge. Spend at least 10-15 minutes a day on something with an educating aspect.
